Final Design

I've revised this recently so I replaced the rendering and description that was here with the new page out of my portfolio.

Beginning Modeling

This is the first time I've touched Alias all summer, but its coming back to me. I just started building the model up from my pencil sketch, and at this stage I like to consider the modeling like sketching in 3D. Nothing is set in stone, and I can continue to evolve the design, as I can spin it around and look at it from any angle to see what works and what doesn't.

Digital Oscar!

I created this 5th scale, 200 dpi Oscar from scanning a real one, and putting each movable part on a separate layer so you can pose him however you like. Also just scale him to fit whatever size drawing you're working on. It's free for all to use, just say thanks if you download it.

WE DRAW CARS: Narrowing it Down

Here are some more sketches I did for the "We Draw Cars" blog, searching for a final design. I came across some photos of some old board track racers, and that's what inspired these.

I really liked the look of the blade style forks. These would work like normal forks, but the moving parts are hidden from view, so it appears the wheel is floating up and down between them.

This is a composite of a few sketches from above, and the ideal direction I'm heading. I'm going to integrate the exhaust a bit better on future iterations. I figured stuff like that might become more apparent once I start drawing it from different angles, and working out volumes.
